Smart Floor is located at Strijp-S in Eindhoven and has a versatile team of software engineers and account managers with a background in movement sciences. This team is supported by experienced entrepreneurs.
Smart Floor was founded in 2016 with the goal of developing a “smart floor” to measure foot positions. Originally, the goal was to develop this technology for performance improvement in elite sports. In 2018, it made Smart Floor knowledge of the theme of fall prevention. Five years of development and validation processes for the floor, sensor, and software followed.
De Smart Floor was initially intended as a hidden floor beneath an existing floor. In response to the Dutch chain approach to fall prevention, a 'mobile' was installed alongside this hidden floor. Smart Floor developed. The mobile floor makes it possible to measure at multiple locations and thereby increase the reach.
In July 2023, the first mobile Smart Floor put into use in the Netherlands. In January 2026, there were approximately 275 mobile Smart Flooris actively distributed across approximately 200 organizations and municipalities.
At Smart Floor We continuously work on the further development of our products and their applications. Through collaborations with various universities, universities of applied sciences, and healthcare institutions, multiple studies are conducted annually. These studies and consultations with our customers have made it possible to optimize both the measurement and analysis processes over the past few years.
The goal is to the Smart Floor and to continue developing its applications. In this way, we aim to continue providing support on socially relevant and important themes.
Smart Floor believes in a future where health receives attention not only when problems arise, but is instead made visible and open for discussion at an early stage. In an aging society, we view awareness and prevention as keys to a longer, healthy, and independent life.
The vision of Smart Floor is to use movement as an accessible and meaningful indicator of vitality and health. Through accessible technology, we aim to provide insight into how people move and what that says about their health. Not as a complex medical instrument, but as a practical tool that helps people and organizations take timely action.
Here, people are central, not technology. Smart Floor strives to make health understandable and appealing, so that people become naturally involved in their own vitality.
Europe is aging rapidly. People are living longer and the healthcare system is under pressure. There is not enough capacity to monitor everyone individually and test extensively. As a result, help only gets underway when it is essentially already too late.
We believe that the future lies not only in care, but also, and perhaps even more so, in prevention. By giving people earlier insight into their vitality, they can take action themselves or be guided in a timely manner towards exercise, training, or support.
We strive to be able to provide support for this challenge throughout Europe.
